They adjust frequencies and optimize your sounds.

a graphic like this to show the frequency spectrum.
Because they are included with DAWs, there are many people who use these as their main EQs.
Besides these, there are a variety of EQ types.
There are types that model vintage hardware,
and give a track a unique characteristic.
However, because there is no graphic showing the frequency spectrum,
it may seem harder to use.

As an example we will compare Waves「Q10」and「V-EQ4」.
How to use vintage EQs
Lowcuts and highcuts
It is important to understand the frequent terms of
「HP/LP」when using EQ.
- HP : Short for highpass filter, same function as「lowcut」
- LP : Short for lowpass filter, same function as「highcut」
By understanding these terms, just
「desinate what areas you want to cut」.
In addition, here are some more abbreviated terms:
- LF : low frequency
- LMF : low mid frequency
- HMF : high mid frequency
- HF : high frequency
Shelf
This mark represents the「shelf」.
You can raise/lower gain from the selected range.
Select the outer black knob to adjust the frequency,
and the internal white knob to raise/lower the volume.
Bell
This mark is the「bell」. (aka peak)
It is shaped like a mountain, with the selected point at the top.
Select the outer black knob to adjust the frequency,
and the internal white knob to raise/lower the volume.
The「HiQ」in green determines the width (Q) of the point,
and will become more narrow when turned on.
