Auto-Analysis and Splitting Up Drum Loops! Regroover Pro Tutorial
High level analysis to split up and reconstruct loop sounds
In this article, we will be taking a look at [Regroover Pro].
Regroover Pro auto analyzes audio files in a drum loop, and splits them into different parts.
AI (artificial intelligence) is used for this process, and performs a highly complex analysis.
For example, when using a drum loop with a kick, snare, and hihat, you can take out specific parts of the kit, or even switch them out with other sounds.

Importing audio drum loops
REGROOVER is opened as a software plugin and not an effect.
Simply drag and drop and audio file into Regroover.
The audio is automatically analyzed, and separated into kit parts.
These analyzed tracks are called “Layers”.
Editing Layers
Layers can be solo’ed with the “S” button, and can be used if perhaps you want to use just the hihat of the loop.
By dragging the loop span of each layer, you can set different loop playbacks for each.
This simple function can lead to the birth of new phrases and beats.
By changing the “LAYERS” number, you can split the kit into a maximum of 6 layers.
By designating the analysis detail with “ACTIVITY”, you can get results that better match your audio materials.
After making these changes, click “SPLIT” to re-analyze and apply them.
Editing within each Layer
If an unwanted sound is added into the analyzed Layer, it can be moved to a different layer as well.
After turning on the “Eraser” icon, double click on the portion you wish to move.
In addition, the span can be changed by dragging as well.
To remove the selected span, “hold the shift key and click the selected span”.
By clicking “Split”, the selected span will be re-analyzed into a separate layer.
If you want to designate which layer to move it to, place a lock on the Layers that you don’t want effected.
Tempo and playback edits
REGROOVER materials will automatically sync to play with the DAW tempo.
However, if a material is analyzed incorrectly, you can check the original sample tempo and edit accordingly.
Next we will look at the playback settings.
If the “HOST” button is on, when the DAW is played, Regroover will play simultaneously.
However, there may be times when you want it to play only during certain parts of a song.
In this case,
turn off “HOST” to remove auto playback.
Instead, you can use the MIDI notes applied to each layer.
By entering MIDI notes, you can control when Regroover plays in the song.
Applying effects
From the EFFECTS section, you can apply up to 4 effects per layer.
After selecting the Layer you want to apply effects to, select the effect you want to use and turn on the power button.
This product has a limiter on board as well, that can be turned on/off from the top of the screen.
Utilizing the Editor
EDITOR is a sampler that allows you to place sounds on a MIDI sampler from notes C4~D#5.
Click on a pad’s import button to import a sample.
A variety of simple and basic sampling functions such as starting point designation, reverse, volume envelope, EQ, compression, stereo width, panning, and volume can be applied/edited.
EDITOR can be used in collaboration with the Layers as well.
Double click a waveform that you want to use, and move your cursor to the lower half of the waveform.
Then, simple drag and drop it into a designated pad.
Exporting audio
Sounds within Regroover can be easily imported into your DAW as well.
Simply drag the export icon on the top of the screen into an audio track in your DAW.
If you want to remove certain layer sounds when exporting,
mute the layer you don’t want included and export it.
In addition, using the “EXPORT” button, you can export individual layers, the entire mix as a whole, and more.
We hope you enjoyed this tutorial.
