Three different EQ types
Previously, we looked at 3 different EQ knobs of「frequency」,「Q」,and「gain」.
Now we will take a look at 3 different types of EQs.
By absorbing the knowledge from these articles, your well on the way to becoming better with EQ!
「Bandpass」
↑ This is the most orthodox and well used type.
You can select the area of frequency that you want to lower/raise, and allows for flexible editing.
Select the area with「Frequency」.
Change the span with「Q」.
Determine how much to apply with「gain」.
「Shelf」
↑ There are EQ shelves on the low/high end of the spectrum.
Select an frequency and control above (for high) or below (for low) the selected frequency.
Use it to boost lows, raise highs, or lower either frequency area.
Use「Frequency」to select the shelf starting point.
Select angle with「Q」.
Select the amount of cut/boost (size of the shelf)「Gain」.
「Low/high pass」
↑ Use this to make deep cuts on either end of the spectrum.
Cut lows with the「high pass」
Cut highs with the「low pass」
- Make deep low cuts to tidy up a song, or get rid of shrill highs.
- Make drastic changes in tone.
Use「Frequency」to select the shelf starting point.
Select angle with「Q」.
Select the amount of cut with「Gain」.
